Mountain Hikking Itineraries
The Machame Route is the most scenic route up Kilimanjaro, passing through lush rain forest, river valleys and views of the Kibo Peak. This route is the most popular and it gives the climbers the opportunity to "walk high and sleep low" which is very good for acclimatization.

The Machame Route can be also done in 7days/6nights. This program as it skips one important day for acclimatization is suitable for those who have experience on mountain trekking, are well fit and have recently been acclimatized in high altitudes.
Kilimanjaro, Machame Route in 7days/6nights
The Marangu Route is an easier route with more comforts. This is the only route on Kili where you can overnight in huts with comfortable beds at the camps. Bathrooms and running water are available at the two lower huts. There is lower vegetation along this route that turns into an alpine desert that resembles a lunar landscape. From Horombo Hut you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Kibo Peak.
Kilimanjaro, Marangu Route in 6days/5nights
The Umbwe Route is much steeper ascending directly to the summit - very enjoyable if you can resist the temptation to gain altitude too quickly. This route is good for those who have climbing experience and enjoy doing things a little rough. The reward will be big as you have the opportunity to get close to the beautiful and fascinating glaciers of Kilimanjaro and to be able to visit the ash pit.
Kilimanjaro, Umbwe Route in 7days/6nights
The Rongai is the easiest route and very scenic. The ascent starts from the northeastern side of the mountain along the borders of Tanzania and Kenya and descends from the southern side through Marangu route. So in this route you get to see both sides of the mountain. On your way you ll enter pine forests and pass through fields which boast beautiful views and a variety of wildlife inhabitants such as Colobus monkey.

The Lemosho Route is the longest route and less used, perfect for those seeking a slower climb with stunning surroundings. On your way up you will pass trough a green rainforest, a rim of a volcano with views of the Kibo peak, from rocky trails, a valley with Giant Lobellia and Scenecio and views of Mawenzi and Uhuru peaks.

Momela Route is a unique four days trek which includes walking through grassland and dense highland forest before ending in a dramatic ridge walk up to the summit. The geology of the summit consists of a perfectly formed crater with sharp cliffs and an ash cone which creates a secondary introverse peak. The summit can be reached through a narrow, barren ridge and the view of the ash cone and the cliff face leading to the summit is breathtaking.

Momela Route is a unique trek which includes walking through grassland and dense highland forest before ending in a dramatic ridge walk up to the summit. The Momela Route in 3 days/2nights is ideal only for the very physically fit and experienced hikers as the last day involves 12-14 hours of trekking.
